Ready to become your favorite barista? New to espresso or looking for a refresher? You landed in the right place! Intro to Espresso is training designed specifically for you, the home barista. This self-paced course will take about one hour to complete. We give you the tools, tips, and tricks to confidently work your equipment and make great espresso. After getting some good practice time in, you’re encouraged to meet with one of our barista instructors for a one-on-one Zoom training session. During this call, you’ll be able to ask questions and work on whatever may be holding you back from better coffee.
What you'll learn:
- History of espresso
- How to pull the perfect shot
- Espresso recipes
- How to dial in your grinder
- Distribution and tamping techniques
- Coffee storage and best practices
- What your espresso should taste like
What you’ll need:
- An espresso machine
- A burr grinder
- Whole bean coffee (5-10 days off roast)
- Tamper
- Tamping mat (optional)
- Scale (that measures in grams)
- Shot glasses or demitasse cups
- A microfiber towel
- Knock box (optional)
- A spoon
